First you need to download the [Joomla 3.x module](https://github.com/bensmiley/Chatcat/tree/master/Joomla!) from our Github page.
Go to the admin section of your Joomla! site and open the **Extension Manager**.
Administrator Panel >> Extensions >> Extension Manager
In the **uploading packaged file** area, select the **chatcat_joomla.zip** file.

Once the module is installed, it needs to be configured. Navigate to the Chatcat configuration screen:
Administrator Panel >> Extensions >> Module Manager
Check that the Chatcat module is enabled and then click the link to configure Chatcat.

## Configuring Chatcat
On the Chatcat configuration screen, a number of things have to be setup to get Chatcat working.

1. Set **Show Title** to **Hide**
2. Select a position for the plugin - it should be added to the **footer**
3. Set status to Published
4. Set access to Public
5. Set the Finished publishing date to some date in the far future
6. Set Menu Assignment to **On all pages**
7. Add your details to the Basic Options panel
8. Click **Save**
If you leave the API key blank, then the chat will use the default login system. By entering the API key you activate single sign on and Chatcat will integrate with the Joomla! login system. You can find your API key and secret on the manage site section of the dashboard.
If you want to add custom login and sign up pages to the Chatcat popup, you can enter the addresses in the fields.
